From 9~ reply:
"Just like the AF failed to follow protocol in reporting that guy who shot up a church a few months back. Hmmm... seems to be a trend. What good will more laws and restrictions do if nobody enforces them anyway?"
First they need to do there job. They should have investigated that call, but they didn't.
The main things I see are threefold:
1. they interviewed the "guardian" of the kid. He said he told him that he was going to have to get gun safe for all those guns, and that
the guardian was going to keep the key. When asked what happened he said he thought he had the only key. What kind of fool
thinks that there is only 1 key to a brand new safe???? First off he should have went and got the safe and said you will keep you guns in this safe, or you won't stay here, and made the kid pay for the safe that way guardian was in complete control.
2. do the jobs you are supposed to do: Here, and in 9's case the FBI dropped the ball they did not do the checks, or investigations.
3. Communication: once you are on the list, it is available to everyone (only one list). If you commit a crime in Lima, OH that keeps you from owning a gun, then that goes into the gun ban database whatever we want to call it. Now if you move to Columbus, OH, or Indianapolis, IN if you goto buy a gun they will be looking at the same database. That's what happened in 9's case, one database didn't know what the other database was doing.
4. Mental Health, and Discipline: With the way thing are today if a kid threatens violence or commits an extremely violent act
They see the doc, and if the doc say he can become violent then he is on the list, like a pedophile. If anyone already has mental health issues that can cause violence then you are on the list. Taking meds doesn't get you off the list, because we don't know if you are taking them. Only a doc signing off saying you are cured gets you of the list and on to probation for 5 years.
Remember there were multiple warnings about this kid, anything that is in place now IF DONE PROPERLY, could have stopped him.
When they expelled him, why did they? You have to do a lot of shit to get expelled, it's usually suspended. I also believe he was in a "problem" school of sorts. If that was the case, he should have being watched already.
That's how I see it. raising the age to 21 won't fix it, the guy in 9's case was over 21. Also,
now the case is, I can't buy a rifle at 18, but I can sign up for the Armed Forces at 18 to use one to kill,
get a mental defect then shoot up a bunch a folks when I get home?????
Dear livespive:
OK ... From your perspective, what law(s) could have been passed that would have prevented Nikolas Cruz from killing 17 people last week?
