ISIS terrorists are on a relentless march through much of the Middle East, and Iran, Syria and Russia have formed a malevolent axis that threatens global security. And war clouds are gathering in many portions of the globe.
Nevertheless, despite such perilous situations, our Retreater In Chief Barack Hussein Obama walked into a “photo-op” at the White House last week to announce his veto of a sweeping national defense bill.
Strong bipartisan majorities in both the House of Representatives and Senate voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) earlier this year -- an important measure that historically has passed with bipartisan support -- and it has been signed into law 53 years in a row. Importantly, the legislation includes a well-deserved pay raise for U.S. troops, plus improved access to life-saving drugs for military vets and increased child care on military bases for active-duty troops.
The Retreater In Chief claims to oppose the bill because he wants Congress to reach a broader agreement on federal spending, including massive spending hikes on domestic programs. But this nation's troops deserve better.
Too much is at stake to continue to downgrade military-related spending, and with the world in increasing turmoil, this is no time to play political games with our national security. But it's par for the course under Barack Hussein Obama.
