On Doge/D.o.E. accidentally laying off a number of subject matter experts in nuclear waste?

My take on this is that yes, maybe Doge is moving too fast, but I also believe there are people in management that are purposely not giving the correct information to Doge.ir the department of energy. The confusion apparently was that this dependent had moved and that job roles and departments were mis labeled in OMB. This also points to how convoluted and large the federal government is.

Keep in mind that even at the rate Elon is taking, with 3 million civil servants it could take months or maybe even years to go through jobs and roles.

Even the left wing media is starting to capitulate to the fact that there is waste and abuse, but they wish Elon wasn't doing it and that it was being done with a scapel. The problem with that is it would take years (and allows more time to hide the fraud)

The only way to change such a fucked up system is complete evisceration followed by surgical rebuilding.

They could fire the entirety of the federal government and I wouldn't be overly concerned. The mirage of necessity the bureaucracy has built to protect itself needs to come down so We the People can see just how unnecessary a massive federal government is in their lives. Anything the feds can do the states can do better.

I was watching some fluff piece about the NWS and NOAA and some retired NWS employee was acting like that these layoffs to him mean the employees "have no value'. Keep in mind no cuts have been made. He also admitted that when they've had budget cuts they find ways to keep people.

What this means is that they are valuing people over directives or even possibly spending money on the advancement to weather technology.

What this also means is that he does not believe people within the federal government find themselves accountable to the American people. Or he is overvalueing his job.

It also means they've never worked in private sector jobs where there are always mass layoffs and those people might feel that the company didn't think they were of value. The reality is most people understand when in the private sector, layoffs happen, and it's a calculation on saving money from the CEO.

Specifically when it comes to NOAA/NWS, no one knows who yet might have to go. In many of these layoffs, employees less than one year and bloated administrative employees are getting let go, not employees who are doing actual work.
