Racing is still a dangerous sport

Not sure how many of you may follow Indycar or witnessed this spectacular crash by Robert Wickens at Pocono a little over a week ago

Latest report, Saturday night he was able to breathe on his own (had bruising to his lungs) and talk to family. He has rods/screws in his back (thoracic region), a broken right arm, and sounds like multiple surgeries on his lower extremities. They haven't said much else. I suspect paralysis from the injuries, and hope I'm wrong.

The kid has talent, and while not a rookie in racing, was in the Indy car circuit. He proved to be a quick study and has been competitive all year. I hope he makes a full recovery and is able to come back to racing.

SAW THAT. IF IT HADNT BEEN FOR THE "CAPSULE" THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTHING LEFT OF THE CAR OR HIM.

Very true. You ever watch these guys when they run at TMS? I was at Franchitti's last race here in Houston. Was on the other side of the track from where he wrecked, but we still knew it was bad...

Anyway... F1 was singing the praises of their new "Halo" after this (there is a video of the incident on the page). Dude would have had a face full of tire were it not for that Halo.

That was insane! I need to get up there and watch that race - they put on a good show. Saw NASCAR there back in '98, but haven't been back.

Rumor has it COTA is being considered for a second Indycar race in Texas...

Wholly crap, man! That was gnarly!

The only motorsports I watch are drag racing and motocross. Yes, it is dangerous and I could never ride at that level of intensity.
