Once-popular ballreviews forum is essentially dead

There isn't much activity going on in this forum, but it's hanging on FAR BETTER than the once-thriving ballreviews.com forum.

In the BR Miscellneous forum, there has been only 3 posts in the past 2 months -- one each on Aug. 28, Aug. 10 and July 5. And in the 13 general categories, only 3 have any posts in July and August.

BR doesn't even bother to show which members are logged in, probably because the number is ZERO most of the time! Any of us could make 4 posts in a day or week and have more posts than BR has had in two months.

By the way, is our "long gone" friend Chet Lewis gone from forums for good?

Chet singlehandedly destroyed the BR Non Bowling Related forum. He had so many Monikers that the staff couldn't keep up. He hid behind a VPN like a sniveling punk coward. He would send PMs threatening to harm forum family members as well. He threatened to sexually assault my sister. Total psychotic behavior.

He tried the same thing here, Rev. But I stayed on top of it. In fact, when we first came over here we were inundated with all the Bruce variants and whatever else gave all the trouble over there. I took them on face to face and purged the site. The problem we had after that here was that the very things some people wanted me to boot people for, they were also guilty of. So, when I dropped the hammer on them as well, they got all bent out of shape and cried foul. Then I was accused of singling people out and favoring others. But, I've never been anything but even-handed here. And that's what took BR down. Inconsistent mods and admins. Had they paid attention and been even handed over there, they wouldn;t have had to remove the NBR forum. I offered my services over there back then, but was met with no response.

Chet Lewis also played a significant part in the demise of the BBE (bowlingballexchange.com) forum. Through his many screen names, he was like a virus in any forum he entered.

I can visualize that. The BR mods were weak. They were probably concerned the main retail sales site would be negatively impacted and decided to shudder the NBR forum. That was the easy way out. I miss that place.

Dear REVerse:

The BR moderators took far too long to do something about the out-of-control personal attacks -- if, indeed, they actually moderated the site at all.

That was the issue over there. They would allow things to get so far out of hand that they couldn't be reeled in. Had the watched and taken care of the small things with just a PM, or a quick post letting everyone know they were watching, it could have easily been handled. But they'd wait until the whole forum was ablaze and then start banning people. Bad policy.

Speaking of banning people, I should get full credit for the official banning of Chet Lewis. Of course, in the process of doing so, I got banned myself, but it was worth it to see Chet banned. I was getting tired with that forum anyway because it had evolved into more personal attacks than sensible discussion.
